Best HD Projectors Under $1000: Top 3
|Remember when the first commercial projectors came out? It was 1970s, and the technology used was CRT. Even before that, projectors were used heavily though. In fact, US Army used overhead projectors in 1945, during the WWII. Despite projectors being popular, in the 20th century, projector technology was quite primitive. Nowadays, however, projectors have become much more advanced, and with that it has become a tough job to choose a single one, especially when your budget is medium or high. So we started analyzing various projectors under 1000 bucks, read reviews, and compared specifications. At last, we chose these 3 as the top HD models below $1000:
1. ViewSonic PJD7820HD 1080p 3D Home Theater Projector
Supporting Full HD, this 4.6 pound projector tops this list due to its incredible qualities. A few disadvantages exist, which we have mentioned below, but nothing too fatal. For less than 1000 dollars, this projector is the only one that steals the show with style. It has a contrast ratio of 15000:1, which is rare at this price point. Its compact size assures high portability, as well.
Pros
- It is an amazing combination of 1080p native, 3D and 3000 lumens
- Very clear and detailed image quality with good color reproduction; the images are not extremely sharp like that offered by projectors that cost above $1500, but considering its price, image quality is very good
- The projector delivers clean images even when there is light inside the room, although it doesn’t perform well under bright sunlight
- Setup is very simple and not time consuming at all
- Dust issues are almost non-existent since it comes with a filter-less design
- The bulb life is very long, going up to 6000 hours when using the Eco mode
- It can easily handle 150 inches of width diagonally without suffering any loss of picture quality
- Comes with a 3-year warranty inclusive of parts and labor
Cons
- A bit noisy fan, although that is not an issue on a practical level
- While watching 3D, some reviewers note that the screen flickers slightly on occasions
- If using HDMI or VGA inputs, you cannot adjust the colors and other settings much
- The remote control could have been better
- ViewSonic’s Customer Support is not very helpful when it comes to sorting out issues
Conclusion
This HD projector under $1000 is not suitable for those who need to project images in multiple directions. However, if you want to watch movies, enjoy Netflix or play HD games with incredible details and fascinating colors, then you cannot go wrong with this.
2. BenQ 2200 Lumen HT1075 1080P 3D Projector
One of the most modern offerings from BenQ, this HD projector is really something you need to consider if you are looking to buy a projector for about 1000 bucks. The Lens Shift feature allows you to make adjustments without having to physically move the projector. To view movies with satisfaction, all you need is a white wall and you’re good to go.
Pros
- Excellent image production, almost as good as plasma TV’s; the colors do not seem washed out or grayish at all
- Even when the screen width is as high as 120 inches, the picture quality impresses
- There are a lot of options to make little adjustments, which is cool for those who like to tweak settings a lot
- The Keystone feature gives you the ability to watch movies without having to place the projector at the center
- A little bit of light present in the room does not hamper the image quality significantly
- Installation is easy
- 3D movie watching is truly a great experience when you have this projector
- The company lets users purchase a warranty of 2 or 3 years by paying a little extra
Cons
- The zoom lens is a bit short, so placing the projector at a huge distance is not an option
- Although the speakers are good for small rooms, if you want home theater effect, you will need to buy external speakers
Conclusion
This projector is good for almost anything. Whether you want to use it in your home theater, your office, or simply desire to play your favorite games, this one will be up for the job.
3. Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 1080p 3LCD Projector
Although it has only 2000 lumens, which is lower than the other two models listed here, it still can deliver excellent images. The company promotes it as being able to project up to 300 inches, but we believe that 150 inches is the limit if you want great picture quality. Still very good though. It has 3D compatibility, and offers a good Eco mode.
Pros
- Epson has always designed projectors that are visually appealing, and this one has an eye-catching design too
- Unless you compare it with models that cost over $2000, there is nothing to complain about its picture quality
- It offers a wide range of adjustments, which is good if you intend to do multiple things with it
- Setting it up is a quick and easy process
- This Epson works well in a moderately lit room, even though the images look a bit washed out
- Warranty of 2 or 3 years can be purchased by paying a bit more
- The 3D images look wonderfully balanced
Cons
- If you watch movies with low volume, and want a significantly quiet fan, you have to use it in the Eco mode
- Keystone feature does not work too well at times, and in order to get great image quality, placing the projector in the right spot is important
- Does not come with Lens Shift option
Conclusion
This model is nearly as great as the other two models listed here. Unless you hold its 2000 lumens of capacity against it – which is irrelevant because it offers great image quality still, there is no reason to not go for it.
